What is Upward Basketball?

The Upward basketball program at Rainsville First Family is different from other recreational league programs.  Our heart is to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to learn about the game of basketball, develop

their athletic skills, and create relationships with others through sports, all while learning about the incredible love of Jesus!  Although we want our basketball games to be competitive and fun, we strive hard to provide

an environment that is focused more on Jesus than simply winning games.

Sign-Ups for Upward basketball

are typically in November and begin

the week after Thanksgiving.

The season runs from January - February.


The current cost of participation

in Upward Basketball is $60/child.

This price includes a jersey, t-shirt, 

and an Upward logo.

Shorts must be provided

by the participant. 


Practice times are scheduled one night

per week for one hour, and all season

games are held on Saturday. 

Player evaluations will be scheduled

when the sign-up process is completed.  

The evaluation is mandatory for season

participation and must be attended

by the player.  The evaluation only takes

between 15-20 mins.


Permission forms will be handed out

and completed during the

player evaluation session.

The Dream Team

"The Dream Team" is made up of our very special and amazing friends!

If you have a special needs child or adult, we would love to have them participate!

The age range of this team starts at 4 years old and goes through all adult ages.

The Dream Team is a great opportunity to get your loved one involved in a program that is fun, 

engaging, and grounded in teaching each participant about the great love that Jesus has for them!


Rainsville First Family offers a "Big Dream Team" and a "Little Dream Team."

The "big" team plays a regular game of basketball with normal goal heights.

The "little" team will share and shoot the ball in a "game" that is very much unstructured, 

and they have a great time playing together!

The "little" team will also be individually paired with a "buddy" 

that will assist them at practices and games.


Without a doubt, The Dream Team is the biggest blessing that our Upward program has to offer!

We look forward to hosting them and our all of our Upward teams each year!
